Year 2

Welcome to Year 2! We are looking forward to working together with you to help your child shine their light, be the best that they can be and instil in them the school values of love, respect, trust, hope and thankfulness.

Adults in Y2

Miss Taylor and Mrs Cowling are the Class Teachers, Mrs Park teaches on a Monday afternoon and Mrs Inman will teach Spanish on Monday. Please feel free to speak to any of these adults about your child if there is something we need to know.

The Shine Curriculum

Children begin learning at 8:55am every day so please ensure your child arrives promptly to school. Across the year there will be opportunities for clubs such as booster or other activities.

Home learning

Home learning books will be given out in the first week of each half term. They will include the weekly spellings to practice at home and 1-2 tasks to complete over the half term. Books are to stay at home until the due in date (normally a few days before the end of the half term). Children may be set tasks on Purple mash for this.

Classroom practices

We encourage the children to bring in a water bottle every day. We would kindly ask that it is one with a sports cap. The children should also bring their reading/RWI books and reading records into school every day. Please ensure that all PE kits, coats, jumpers etc are named – especially jumpers and coats which they might remove throughout the day.
