Welcome to St. Peter’s Smithills Dean

We are a Church of England, voluntary aided school, for 4- to 11-year-old children in the parish of St Peter’s Halliwell, and a proud member of the Forward as One CE Multi Academy Trust. 

Our school mission statement is ‘Let Your Light Shine’ based on Matthew 5 v 16. At St Peter’s we want all our children to shine in whatever they do. We do this in many different ways, but one key way is by following the example, values and teaching of Jesus Christ, who teaches us to love one another, as he has loved us, and reminding us that he has come to bring us all life to the full! That’s what we want for everyone at St Peter’s – children, staff, parents and governors. We are a happy school full of life and joy! 

St Peter’s School is highly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children with all staff and volunteers sharing this commitment. Your child’s health and safety are our priority. We have established a secure, caring and industrious environment, in which children are encouraged to achieve their full potential. We work hard to ensure that all our children acquire a high level of self-esteem, confidence and a ‘can-do’ attitude. 

Our curriculum is broad and balanced; providing a wide range of learning opportunities for all children to enable them to grow into curious, independent and responsible citizens. We place a high value on all subjects, from writing to PE, from Art to RE. We also aim to provide a caring environment for your child where they feel safe and happy, and can therefore thrive and flourish. 

I know that the best outcomes for your child will be achieved by a close co-operation between home and school, and staff at school are always happy to talk to you about any aspects of your child’s welfare and education.
